The Malaysian population has a 4% average lifetime risk of developing colorectal cancer. The mainstay of curative treatment is surgery to remove the tumour, a procedure called Bowel Resection.

- Pelvic Exenteration Surgery is a form of radical surgery to remove cancer in the rectum and other surrounding pelvic organs. This may occasionally be supplemented with radiotherapy treatment during the time of surgery.
- Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) in combination with Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a highly specialized treatment which is offered to selected patients with cancer affecting the peritoneum (inner lining of the tummy).
